Sanyo releases Xacti E6

Sanyo today added a 6 megapixel digicam, the Xacti E6 to their consumer digital camera line. The Xacti E6 features a whopping 3-inch LCD screen and is expected to be available by the end of the month at an estimated price of $399.99 USD

Along with its large 3-inch LCD screen, the Xacti E6 features Sanyo’s “Touch Sensor Shutter Button” technology which allows the camera’s shutter button to sense the lightest touch and initiate auto focus, avoiding the awkward two-step shutter release setup. Typically, point-and-shoot cameras will initiate focus when half-way depressed and capture images when fully depressed.

The 3-ich screen of the 6 megapixel Xacti E6 will provide users with roughly 230 percent more viewing area than a 2 inch LCD screen. Utilizing this extra space, Sanyo has equipped the Xacti E6 with a “Best Shot” mode, whereby four shots of the same subject with different settings are taken consecutively and then displayed on the screen for the users to select the best one, a useful feature for those less adept at photography.

The Xacti E6 relies on a 9-point auto focus system and is able to capture full-frame, 640 x 480 video at 30 frames per second. The camera features a 3x optical zoom lens that does not extend from the camera’s body. The Xacti E6 measures 3.8 x 2.3 x .9 inches and weighs 5.6 ounces without its rechargeable Lithium-ion battery or SD-memory card.
