BOSTON (Dow Jones) -- Eastman Kodak Co. (EK) said it will delay shipment of its highly touted EasyShare One digital camera to October, rather than starting sales next month as planned.

The camera, which features a large liquid-crystal-display screen and a unique capability of wirelessly transmitting pictures to WiFi local area networks, was introduced in January at the Consumer Electronics Show where it won some awards for innovation.

A Kodak spokesman declined to specify issues that led to the delay. He said: "This represents a significant technological advance in the digital camera marketplace. We're taking the time to do it right."

He added that the $699 camera will be available for the crucial holiday selling season and said the delay won't have any impact on Kodak's previous earnings guidance.
