Lexar's Tiny USB Flash Drives


Lexar's new flash memory drives are a great idea. Each one is no larger than the USB connector itself, meaning that unless they can make the memory sticks shorter, this is just about as small as they can get. Lexar says they hope the drives might take the place of CompactFlash or SecureDigital cards. That's unlikely. First manufacturers would have to adopt the USB type interface for a USB type drive, and the software to control such a device. It would be a great addition to a camera since you could easily just plug it into any USB port to access the images, but I wouldn’t want to see it completely replace CF or SD.
